Relay is Getting Closer
By adminThe Relay for Life is getting closer, here is the front and back of my Shirt, I think I’m going to do ok walking my distance so far this week I’m over 5 miles on the pedometer. My total donations are getting pretty close to my adjusted to reality goal so I guess that’s pretty successful.

7 days until the Relay for Life
By adminDays days until the walk - walking is going well but I still have not went over 1/2 mile at a time yet but I do about the same 1/2 mile almost everyday over the noon hour. Today I actually wore a Pedometer and measured my walking before lunch at almost 1 mile before my walk!! Could still use a few more donations there is another team that is stomping our rear in total donations. On the link above you can make a donation and or view the results of donations so far. Thank You!
Inspiration by Albert Mensah
By admin“What do you do when people think of you as a failure?”
The wonderful thing about the game of life is that winning and losing are only temporary, unless you quit. You are 100% responsible for your own actions.
It was Eleanor Roosevelt who said these words, “no one can make you feel inferior without your consent”.
The more you allow yourself to be thought of by other people as a failure, the more likely you are in the end to regard yourself as one. Do not let yourself be criticized, diminished, made fun of or “put down” by anyone near you, however much you may love him or her. In order to succeed you must first persuade yourself that you are a success, and in order to do that, you need the support and backing of other people’s belief in the possibility of success.
It is of course, possible to overcome other people’s view of you as a failure, and as we have seen, many great men and women have done just that. But it requires a lot of Will Power to succeed against everyone’s preconceived view of you as a natural failure. In most cases, their opinion (particularly if “they” are close to you) tends to become your opinion of yourself, and holds you back.
The road to success is a long one, and day-to-day judgments may be very deceptive. You have to be strong enough to believe in your own goal, whatever other people think of it. And to bear in mind that success lies in the final accomplishment of your hopes and dreams, and cannot be measured at any single point in a lifetime, but only at the end.
This Man
By adminThis Man by Jeremy Camp
In only a moment truth
Was seen revealed this mystery
The crown that showed no dignity he wore
And the king was placed for all the world
To show disgrace but only beauty flowed from this place
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
He held the weight of impurity
The father would not see
The reasons had finally come to be to
Show the depth of his grace flowed with
Every sin erased he knew that this was
Why he came
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
And we just don’t know the blood and
Water flowed and in it all

He showes just how much he cares
And the veil was torn so we could have
This open door and all these things have
Finally been complete
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
Would you take the place of this man
Would you take the nails from his hands
From his hands
From his hands
From his hands
From his hands
From his hands
Columbia Plateau Trail - Cheney Trail Head
By adminToday I visited the Cheney Trail head but did not take a picture - I imagine it must be around 5 to 6 miles between these to points but I have not looked at any map to close. I might be able to bike this but no way on earth could I walk in in less than a couple days. Picture coming soon. But trust me most trailheads look the same unless I get creative by some means.
Columbia Plateau Trail - Fish Lake Trail Head
By adminWell it’s a long road:

I really do hope it gets easier soon.
Still walking
By adminWell not to much new I’m still doinging what I do - walk alittle and rest a little and keep on truck’in.
On a Winning Attitude!!
By adminA positive attitude always brings about better results than a bad attitude.
Lou Holtz legendary football coach said it this way:
“Ability is what you’re capable of doing.
Motivation determines what you do.
But attitude determines how well you do it”
Now a few words from Pat Riley.
” attitude is the mother of luck
Every life has it’s setbacks. Facing those setbacks
is what keeps you alive. Any time you stop striving
to get better you’re bound to get worse.”
Tortoise and the Hare Day
By adminWell it’s been another day of exercise and recovery. I might have over did it on Saturday so I required some rest on Sunday and I was not feeling very well at all. Today was a walk of just getting back into gear. Enough to get some heavy lasting breathing -that will do me for now.
I’m reminded of the tortoise and the hare. Moral: Plodding wins the race.

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.” Robert Frost
Another Donation
By adminAnother great day! A donation that brings me to $130.00 total so far! That’s great - I’m half way to the low end of my goal - thanks everyone!!! Please get more folks to sign-up.
I still say this is going to be pretty tuff on me - but I’m going to do my best.
Small walk today -big walk and bowling tomorrow(I hope) .
Relay Location II
By adminWell I made it over to the track where the replay will be - it’s not the greatest picture since it was rainy and overcast. Also it was locked up so I could not get on the track.
“I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by
the position that one has reached in life as by the
obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed.”
Booker T Washington
The walk location
By adminToday I’m going to try and find the walk location and see if I can at least look at where I’m going to walk or even see if it is possible to walk there over my lunch hour. Stay tuned for more information. Did I mention I’m up to $75.00 (thank you) in pledge\donations.
Today has been my longest walk yet. And a tough one at that. My lungs burn at the extra huffing and puffing - I think I need to learn to slowdown the pace. But then there is this factor about how much time I can stand on my feet. Today at almost the mid-point my legs became rubbery and I was concerned about being able to get back to the starting point. Well I kept plowing on for about another 50 yards and found a utility box to sit on for about a minute to collect myself. Then I did the reverse walk just a little slower.

Pavlov’s dog and stimulus response
By adminOh no! This is a little unsettling - I’m reminded of Ivan Pavlov’s dog and stimulus response conditioning, it’s getting close to lunch time so I’m starting to think about talking a walk. Can this be healthy that my passive mind chat is about doing my exercise and the Relay?

A little more good news Donations are now up to $55.00 - THANK YOU!!
On being a Champion
By admin” Believe in yourself, be strong, never give up no matter what the circumstances are. You are a champion and will overcome the dreaded obstacles. Champions take failure as a learning opportunity, so take in all you can, and run with it. Be your best and don’t ever ever give up.” - Brad Gerrard
You are a champion, when you ran the ground shook, and the sky opened, mere mortals parted, and you met me in the winners circle and i layed a blanket of flowers on your back
The art of the habit more walking
By adminThe art of a habit
Well today I’ve considered and done my walk - yeah – I tried to walk just a wee few yards further. Some things that come to mind about disclosure are: never take part in an exercise program without the knowledge of your Doctor. Well you don’t have to worry about that part for me!! I’m covered and being encouraged under threat of not being sponsored by the Doc. and some other unmentionable not so desirable thoughts!
Ah back to the habit thing…..
It comes to my mind and I’ve heard you have to do an activity so many times to make it a habit, so I’m wondering if all this walking between now and the Relay will develop into something??
I guess I sort of hope so since I already have learned the following habits of a highly effective person:
- Sleeping (need to work on this harder)
- Eating (to much of the wrong thing)
- Bathing (you know what they say about cleanliness)
- Working (the new virus (Worm-Overload-Recreational-Killer))
- Driving (to the above)
- Hoping (well you have to have that – and there is never enough)
- Praying (well that supports Hope)
- Talking (to others and myself)
- Well there’s more but these are the major ones
Oh Oh and the new one about walking………. That’s the ticket!
